Lucile Cisson Stewart, 90, formerly of 306 Alfred Road, wife of the late Major Edward Stewart, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley. She was a resident of The Willows of Easley, where she had many special friends among the staff and residents.
A native of Easley, Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late William Edward and Emma Pearl Coker Cisson. She graduated from Easley High School, Class of 1937, where she was a basketball star. Mrs. Stewart received her LPN Degree from Greenville General Hospital, and she was a retired nurse at Beth Eden Nursing Home.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of Easley First Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she belonged to the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Oneida Mahaffey Circle. Active through the years at First Baptist Church, Mrs. Stewart was a loyal nursery worker, and she served as a Baptist Training Union Director. Her hobbies included camping and fishing in her earlier years, and she enjoyed her family and friends in her later years.
Surviving are a son, James E. (Jim) Stewart and his wife, Jean, of Easley; a daughter, Judy Stewart Cox, and her husband, David, of Dacusville; four grandchildren, David K. Cox, Jr., Kelly C. Turner, Jenna S. Baukovic, and Jayme S. Lively; eight great-grandchildren, Maddisen Cox, Morgan Cox, Elizabeth Turner, Andrew Turner, Natalie Turner, Alexis Caroline Lively, Emma Claire Lively, and Riley James Baukovic, all of Easley; one nephew, Eddie Cisson; and two nieces, Andrea Griffin and June Couch. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, William Bruce Cisson; and a sister, Ruby Jean Stegall.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. John Adams officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown and will be placed in the church at Noon on Tuesday where the family will receive friends in the Church Narthex from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM.
