Lucille Rackley Chapman, 81, of 206 Katherine Street, wife of the late Willard Carl Chapman, Sr., died Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late J.W. and Anna Rothell Rackley, Mrs. Chapman retired from the Glenwood Plant of Mayfair Mills and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church where she was very active with the W.M.U.

Surviving are a son, W. Carl "Bubba" Chapman, Jr.and wife, Pat, of Easley; three daughters, Nita Schmellick and husband, Richard, of DeBary, FL, Teresa Crowe and husband, Steve, and Debra Epps and husband, Larry all of Easley; two brothers, J.C. Rackley and Clyde Rackley, both of Easley; a sister, Katherine Rampey of Six Mile: eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Chapman was predeceased by a son, Douglas Chapman, and a sister Ovaline Porter.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Smith and Rev. Rick Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 11:30 AM Friday where the family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund of Smith Grove Baptist Church, 1220 Smith Grove Road, Liberty, SC 29657.

The family is at the home of Teresa and Steve Crowe, 300 Highland Road, Easley, SC 29640.
