Lucille S. Clayton

Lucille S. Clayton, 95, of 103 Poole Lane, Clemson, SC, died at The Cottages of Brushy Creek, November 22, 2013, after an extended illness.

She was born in Union Grove, North Carolina on June 28, 1918 to the late John and Zelda Howard Smith. She was a graduate of Furman University with a degree in English and History. She received her master's degree from Clemson University and taught at Edwards Junior High for 10 years. In her younger years she was an active member of Clemson First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and served in many other capacities.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Margaret and K. V. (Chip) Sloan of Greer, and a son, Ed Clayton, Jr. of Clemson; a grand daughter Katie and her husband Scott Lea and a great grand daughter, Lillie Cate Lea of Easley.

Special thanks to the staff at The Cottages at Brushy Creek (Camellia Cottage) and to Ark Hospice of Easley.

Services will be held at 3:00 P. M. Sunday, at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC with burial in Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P. M. until 2:45 P. M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greer Christian Learning Center, P. O. Box 2013, Greer, SC 29652.
