Lucy Davis Rasula

January 21, 1920 — August 13, 2011

Lucy Davis Rasula, youngest of eight children, was born January 21, 1920, in Auburn, Pennsylvania. At age three her father died and the family moved to Laceyville where she graduated from high school in 1938, then attended two years of college before entering the Allentown School of Nursing, graduating RN in 1943.

In 1944 Lucy joined the military during World War as Lt. Lucy Carolyn Davis in the Army Nurses Corps in the U.S. and South Korea until 1949 after which she married Lt. George Rasula at the Tokyo Army Chapel on July 30, 1949. They lived in Sapporo, Hokkaido, until the Korean War began at which time George went to Korea and Lucy returned to the States. After the war they had assignments in Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Germany, Colorado, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Alaska, Finland and Pennsylvania. During George�??s Vietnam tours she and sons Jed and Jon lived in Camptown and Towanda. After retirement they moved to New Hampshire for 12 years after which they moved to Clemson, South Carolina.

Lucy spent a large share of her life helping others, being a good helper to her husband and good mother and loving grandmother. She counted her blessings daily, and they always exceeded expectations!

Lucy is survived by husband retired Col. George Rasula; two children, Jed with wife Suzi Wong in Athens, GA, son Jon in Clemson, and two granddaughters, Sonja (and Jonathan Sager) and Hilda (and Daryl Brook), in Los Angeles.

She was preceded in death by mother Minnie Farr Davis, father Clarke Emmons Davis; brothers John, Harold, Dick, Tom, Burt, Myron; and sister Winifred.

A memorial service will be held at the University Lutheran Church Clemson at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday 16 August; interment at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the University Lutheran Church, 111Sloan St., Clemson,SC 29631 and/or to the Oconee Hospice of the Foothills at 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
