Luke W. Swaney

Luke W. Swaney, 76, and husband of Brenda H. Swaney passed away at his daughter's home Monday March 8, 2021. He was born in Anderson June 25, 1944 the son of John Henry and Ruby "Betty" Hooper Swaney.

First and foremost, Luke was a born-again Christian who served his country by serving in the US Army. He liked to hunt and fish, but above all, he loved his family … and was loved by many.

Luke is survived by his wife; his children: "PeeWee" Luke Swaney (Natalie), Chiquita (Greg), Amanda Evytte Swaney (Jimmy), Ernest Swaney (Joan), Watson Swaney (Janice) and Brenda "Kay" Swaney; 27 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Hensley (Doyle) and Hallie Michelle Barnes (Tommy); a brother-in-law, James Hester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luke was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Watson Swaney (Pat); sister, Johnnie Frances Swaney; a son, Frankie Swaney; a daughter, Jane Swaney; a brother-in-law, Steve Hester; and a granddaughter Abbey Alivya Doyle.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Thursday March 11 at the Newry Church of God, 234 Newry Rd., Seneca.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
