Lyda E. Underwood

Having lived from the horse drawn buggy days to the information age, Mrs. Lyda Ellenburg Underwood was born 06/29/1906 in Oconee County to the late John and Ida Crenshaw Ellenburg.
She was a retired textile employee and was a member of Arial Baptist Church where she taught in the children's department for 42 years and was a member of the Nina Lewis Group and the Jolly Sixties.
Surviving are: three daughters, Pauline Mitchell, Dorothy Cash and husband, Russell, and Patricia Underwood; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Underwood; brother, B.P. Ellenburg; two sisters, Esther Murphree, and Ovie Ivester; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her devoted husband, Donald M. Underwood; a son, Kenneth Underwood; and seven siblings, Doyle, Bowen, Cote, Johnny and Leon Ellenburg, Grace Galbreath and Janie Redmond.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Friday at Arial Baptist Church with Revs. Danny Parton and Charles Hamlin officiating.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:15 to 3 PM prior to the service.
