Mabel M. Stroup of Boscobel Manor in Pendleton (S.C.) died on September 13, 2016 in Seneca. Mrs. Stroup was the wife of Gordon R. Stroup who died in 2001.

She is survived by her children, Wayne of Pendleton and Barbara, of Springfield, Massachusetts.

Mabel grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and was the adopted daughter of Charles H. and Mabel  (Huntley) Wirt. She and Gordon raised their family in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and became Pendleton residents in 1980. She loved the beauty of the skies over South Carolina and all the friends she made in the area. She enjoyed puzzles and many crafts all her life and produced quilts and knitted comforters with her companions who met weekly at the Anderson Public Library. With her marriage to Gordon, she became the devoted wife and loving mother that defined the rest of her life. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Salvation Army.

Wayne and Barbara will welcome friends on Thursday, September 15 from 2 pm to 4 pm. at 117 Kenneth Court, Boscobel Manor, Pendleton.
