Mable Hays Couch, 89, of the Glenwood Community, wife of the late Daniel D. "Buck" Couch, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at her home.

Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Herbert L. and Kathleen Elrod Hays, Mrs. Couch was a graduate of Pendleton High School, Class of 1937. She retired as a restaurant owner and was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church where she belonged to the Gleaners Sunday School Class.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Couch of Anderson, and Tim Couch of Stone Mountain, GA; two daughters, Kathleen C. Zaleski and Gail C. Cater, both of Easley; a brother, Franklin Hays of Anderson; a sister, Wingo H. King of Anderson; a granddaughter, Melanie Z. Moore; five grandsons, Enoch Pugh, Nathan Pugh, Kevin Couch, Jonathan Couch and Benjie Zaleski; and two great-grandchildren, Harlan Couch and Katherine Hays Couch. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Couch was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert Hays and William "Bill" Hays, and by two sisters, Carree H. Stevenson and Emma H. Pruitt.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Dale McCoig officiating.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday where the family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 420 W. Farley Avenue, Laurens, SC 29360 or to the church of one's choice.

The family is at the residence.
