Mack Gantt

William Mack "Bill" Gantt, 84, of 104 Summit Drive, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Center.
Born June 2, 1924, a son of the late McDuff and Dora H. Gantt, Mr. Gantt retired as owner of Mack's Body and Paint after fifty years of service, and attended St. Andrew United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army and was awarded the American Theater Medal, the EAMET Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Victory Medal.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel Adams Gantt of the home; three daughters, Carole G. Ward, Judy G. Brown and husband, Tony, and Jan G. Keasler and husband, Barry, all of Easley; a brother, Clyde Gantt of Spartanburg; two sisters, Viola G. Stephens of Morganton, NC, and Pauline G. Newell of Greenville; four grandchildren, Marc Brown and wife, Jennifer, Aimee Brown, Michael Finley and wife, Melissa, and Kristin Merchant; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Olivia and Molly Brown, Adam Brown and Chase Tinsley, Hannah and Emma Grace Mitchum, Megan and Morgan Finley and Will and Nathan Merchant. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gantt was predeceased by a granddaughter, Leigh B.Mitchum and by two brothers, James and Louie Gantt.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Cleasby and Rev. David Bauknight officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and will be placed in the church at 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
