Marjorie A. Lovell Alden, Pendleton, SC
Marjorie Ann Lovell Alden, 78, beloved wife of Paul D. Alden, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 10, 2007 from Westminster, Maryland. Until recently, she had lived in Pendleton, SC where she served for many years as the Branch Librarian of the Anderson County Library System. She served as an Elder of the Pendleton Presbyterian Church, was a member of Circle 2, attended Sunday school and worship regularly, and served in many other capacities at this and other congregations previously. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, and cared deeply for her family. Marjorie was raised in Stamford, Connecticut as the daughter of Roscoe Ernest Lovell and Irene Ella Smith. She attended nursing school in Connecticut but then went with the family to Florida, where she married and started to raise her own. Moving to Maryland in 1954, she began anew when she met and married Paul Dunham Alden, who preceded her in death on December 24, 1991. They had moved to the Clemson and Pendleton area in 1978. In addition to her parents, her brothers Robert, Kenneth, William, and Edward "Bud" Lovell and sisters-in-law Marilyn and Hope preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Ludy of Danville, California and Beverly of Hilton Head, sons Robert N. Alden and wife Patricia of Shalimar Florida, Thomas S. Alden and wife Judy of Bellevue Nebraska, Russell K. Alden and wife Sandy of Bedford Virginia, John R. Alden and wife Aliceanne of Glenwood Maryland, daughter Cindi Alden Zargarbashi and husband Hooshang of Reisterstown Maryland, grandchildren Robert, Tereza, Paul, Marie, Brenda, Kathleen, Christopher, and Paul Russell, and great-grandchildren Jacob, Brandon, Ricky, and Anthony.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 6:00 7:30 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central. A service celebrating Marjorie's life will be held on Friday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m. at the Pendleton Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Morton S. White. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
