MARCELLE H. KELLY - Clemson

Marcelle Hawkins Kelly, 89, widow of James W. Kelly, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the National Health Center of Anderson. A native of Greer, Mrs. Kelly was a long time resident of Clemson and was the daughter of the late William Vernon and Lillian Morrow Hawkins. She attended the Curry School of Dramatic Arts in Boston, MA and was accomplished in speech and drama. She taught dramatic arts in Clemson and Inman and in the 1940's was the star of the radio show, "Here's Marcelle" originating from Greenville. She was also the author of dramatic readings.

She is survived by daughters, Zana K. Coker and husband Edward C. of Charlotte, NC and Lauren Kelly of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Joe Park and wife Renee of Loganville, GA, Kay Fisher and husband Brian of Charlotte; 3 great-grandchildren and beloved friend, Linda Vaughn of Atlanta, GA.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 2pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central. The family gives special thanks to the staffs of The Inn at Seneca and the National Health Center of Anderson for their special care of Mrs. Kelly.
