Marcus Tillman Smith, 85, of Hartwell, GA, died Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.
Born in Easley, a son of the late Minor and Ozella Evans Smith, Mr. Smith retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Smith of Hartwell, GA; a son, Gordon Smith of Starr; four daughters, Paula Plumley and husband, Dean, and Adriene Cohn, and husband, Gary, all of Easley, Irene Smith of Athens, GA, and Teresa Vagle and husband, Pete, of Duluth, GA; two brothers, Oliver Smith of Mountain Rest and Olin Smith of Joliet, NM; a sister, Edith Smith of Easley; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was predeceased by a son, Galen Smith and two sisters, Pat Parker and Jeanette Day.
Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Rodney Graham officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
The family is at the home of Adriene and Gary Cohn, 125 New Haven Court, Easley, SC 29640.
