Margaret Young Childress, 88, wife of Robert "Bob" H. Childress, of Easley, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Gartrell A. and Irene Boggs Young.
Margaret was an active and cherished member of Easley First Baptist Church, where she attended the Marion Moorhead Growth Group Sunday School class. She was also a committed volunteer in the prayer room and served as treasurer of the Joyce Smith WMU Group for over two decades.
She was an avid tennis player and bowler, participating proudly on several teams. She also had a deep love of music and enjoyed playing the piano. A talented seamstress and an enthusiastic reader, she brought creativity and joy to everything she did.
In addition to her loving husband of 68 years, Margaret is survived by a daughter, Jan Childress Tyner (Curtis) of Easley; a sister, Faye Scammahorn of Easley; brothers, Ron Young (Sheila) and David Young (Judy), both of Easley; and grandchildren, Wendy Coffee (Nolan), Billy West, Katie Tyner, and Emily Tyner; and great-grandchildren, Clyde and Quinn Coffee, and Emily and Charlise Trotter-West.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Meg Childress West; brothers, Joe Young and Sam Young, Sr.; and sisters, Rebecca Irene Young and Anna Young Mauldin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 at Easley First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in memory of Margaret to Easley First Baptist Church, 300 E. 1st Ave., Easley, SC 29640.
