Margaret Hawkins Whelan,78, of 119 Henderson Street, wife of the late Joseph Edward Whelan, Jr., passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at The Rainey Hospice House, Anderson, SC.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, a daughter of the late George Melvin and Rose Marie Schumski Hawkins, Mrs. Whelan retired from Ryobi Manufacturing and was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Whelan Braziel of Pendleton; son, George Whelan, Sr.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Joe Whelan, III, brother, Robert Hawkins; sister, Dorothy Kelver; and granddaughter, Margaret Nicole Whelan.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am Friday, July 23, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jimmy W. Dillard officiating.
Mrs. Whelan's final resting place will be in Sparrowbush, NY, with her husband.
Visitation will immediatly follow the service at the church.
Family members are at their respective homes.
