Margie Moss Bryan, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 20, 2025. She passed at the Willows of Easley, where she had been a resident for over two years.
Born on March 25, 1941, in Buncombe County, NC, she was the eldest daughter of the late Herman Willis and Daphna McKinney Moss. Margie graduated from North Buncombe High School in 1959. Afterwards she studied nursing, receiving her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) accreditation.
She was working at Saint Joseph Hospital in Asheville, NC as a floor nurse when she met Billy Bryan, who was visiting his ailing mother. Thus began a courtship culminating in marriage and the couple moving to Charlotte, NC in 1963. They lived in Charlotte for 20 years where they worked and raised their only child, Russell. In 1983 Billy and Margie returned “home” to Western North Carolina. While here, Margie worked at the VA Medical Center before retiring in 2000.
Margie loved to paint, especially if she could be with Cathy Mandeville and her other “painting sisters”. Her paintings adorned their Weaverville home. She also loved to play games with family and friends.
Surviving Margie is her son Russell Bryan (Betsy) of Pelzer, SC and grandchildren Dylan Bryan of Simpsonville, SC and Maria Bryan of Forest City, NC. She is also survived by three siblings Will Moss (Carol), Sylvia Lunsford (Eddie), and Bobby Moss (Rhonda).
The family will be receiving friends on Friday February 28, 2025, at 2:00pm at Maranatha Baptist Church (1040 Lower Flat Creek Road, Alexander, NC). A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00pm at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Maranatha Baptist Church, PO Box 1152, Weaverville, NC 28787.
