Marguerite E. Tompkins, 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Clemson Downs in Clemson, SC.

She was born September 28, 1924 in New York, NY a daughter of the late Carl and Martha Dohlus Heine. She was employed by various agencies in the the New York metropolitan area. On December 2, 1945, she married Bertram C. Tompkins of Ashland, NY, after his return from the Pacific theater. In 1955, they moved to the Windham, NY area where they resided until November 2002. Marguerite was employed at the Windham Ashland Jewett Central School as Administrative Assistant for 23 years. Following her retirement, she and her husband remained active in the Windham community and enjoyed gardening, visiting with mountain top friends, traveling, and visiting their children and grandchildren. In 2002, they relocated to Clemson, SC.

Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Bertram C. Tompkins of 61 years. She is survived by her three sons; Craig C. Tompkins (Nancy) of Central, SC, Marc S. Tompkins of Minden, NV, and Bertram C. Tompkins (Lisa) of Indian Land, SC; nine grandchildren, Stephen Tompkins (Kathryn), Jonathan Tompkins (Jill), Sarah Tompkins Meads (Jeff), Matthew Tompkins (Caitlan), Kelly Tompkins, Eric Tompkins, Brooke Tompkins Nezami (Tamim), Derek Tompkins (Kindra), Adam Tompkins; and nine great grandchildren, Bailey Tompkins, Leah Tompkins, Crosby Tompkins, Daniel Nezami, Olivia Nezami, Sarah Tompkins, Molly Tompkins, Caleb Tompkins, Blake Tompkins, and Madison Meads.

Graveside services will be 3 PM, Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Old Stone Church Cemetery in Clemson, SC.

The family will be at the residence of Craig and Nancy Tompkins in Central, SC.
