Maria Domnanovich Sellers

December 18, 1931 — January 26, 2026

Greenville, South Carolina

Maria Domnanovich Sellers, 94, of Greenville, South Carolina, wife of the late John Rothell Sellers, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Born in Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Anton Tompek and Paula Domnanovich. Maria lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Maria’s journey began in Austria, where she met the love of her life while he was stationed there in the US Army during World War II. Her husband’s military service led them to France in 1952, and in 1955, they were stationed in the United States, returning to Germany in 1959. In 1961, her husband retired from the military, and they returned to the U.S. With each move, Maria’s spirit remained resilient, embracing each new chapter with grace and warmth. Retiring as a lab technician from Kemet in Simpsonville, South Carolina, Maria transitioned into a role that reflected her true passion for caring—she dedicated her time to supporting elderly couples, an endeavor she cherished deeply. Her nurturing nature shone brightly in her relationships as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The kindness woven into the fabric of her personality set the example for her family and those who had the privilege of knowing her. Maria was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church for many years, and before that, she played an integral role at Welcome Baptist Church, where she participated in the Homebound Ministry. Her faith stood as a cornerstone in her life, guiding her actions and approach to service. Beyond her work and dedication to family and faith, Maria found joy in the simple pleasures of life, her flower beds and her kitchen. She had a talent for cooking and creating wonderful family meals. The holiday season brought out another layer of her caring spirit, as she delighted in baking sweet treats, filling her home with the warmth of both love and delicious aromas. A curious mind, she stayed engaged with current events and had a particular interest in geography, always eager to learn more about the world around her.

Maria is survived by her son, Jimmy Sellers (Brenda), of Greenville, South Carolina; two daughters, Ruby Hall (Bill), of Greenville, South Carolina, and Linda Ragan (Mike), of Easley, South Carolina; a sister, Linde Gardner, of Greenwood, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Ira (Tracy), Naomi (Graham), Kalen (Jenny), Wesley, Cacey (Jonathan), and Caitlin (Will); and eight great-grandchildren, Shelby, Talon, Chloe, Sims, Navey, Fitz, Bowie, and Ozzie.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Johnnie Domnanovich, and Stefan Domnanovich; and a sister, Inge Domnanovich.
