Marie Alexander Hottinger

Marie Alexander Hottinger, 82, of Easley, SC, formally of Mt. Crawford, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, February 15, 2016.

She was born in Weyers Cave, VA on March 24, 1933 to the late Luther David and Grace Cook Alexander.   She was preceded in death by her husband, of almost 65 years, Arlon Hottinger.

Marie graduated from Weyers Cave High School in 1950 where she played basketball.   She won a trophy for being Augusta County's most valuable player her senior year.   Marie was employed by General Electric, Newman's Nursing Home, Whitesel Brothers, and later at Genicom.   In recent years she attended Gethsemane Baptist Church in Greenville, SC where her son-in-law is pastor.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Alexander, Marion Alexander, and James Alexander and sisters, Mary (Sis) Puffenbarger, Cleo Holloway, and Emmaline Landes and granddaughter, Rhonda Gatlin.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Janice Gatlin (Ron) and Sherry Provencher (Richard), four grandchildren: Rachel Gatlin, Mark Provencher, Joy Hancock (Mark), and Dawn Provencher, two great-grand daughters, Amber and Allison Baker, a sister-in-law, Delores Hottinger and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20th at 1:00PM in Gethsemane Baptist Church, 107 Gethsemane Drive, Greenville, SC with son-in-law, Pastor Ron Gatlin officiating.  A private family interment will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, SC next to her husband.

Family will receive friends from 12:00PM to 12:45PM prior to the service at the church.

Family has requested donations be made, for Bibles, directly to Gideons International, 2939 Chesnee Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29307
