Marie Smith Oates, 87, of 200 Lakeshore Drive, wife of the late Jack Curran Oates, died Friday, March 30, 2007, at her home.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late James Henry and Ester Sheriff Smith, Mrs. Oates was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a sister, Ruth Smith Nalley of Easley; and nieces and nephews, Ms. Pat Moore of Greenville, Mike and Karen Nalley, Fred and Ann Lewis, Jimmy Smith and Libby Oates, all of Easley, June and Barry Smith of Belton, and many great and grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Oates was predeceased by two brothers, William H. Smith and Walter J. Smith and a nephew, Billy Oates.


Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Scott Willis officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, prior to the service.

Family members are at there respective homes.
