Marie Piacenti, 87, of 311 Simpson Road, Anderson, SC, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Hospice of the Foothills, Seneca, SC.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Eduardo and Fara Inconiglios Piacenti. Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend. In addition to being a homemaker and raising two children, she worked as a school bus driver and in the school kitchen in Hicksville, NY. When she wasn�??t busy with the family, you could always find her working on her needlepoint, knitting and cross-stitch. She also loved all of God�??s creatures, especially dogs, the two special ones in her life, Princess and Suzette.
Surviving are one son, Vincent Piacenti (Carol) of Central, SC; one daughter, Paula Saur (Robert) of McKinney, TX; three grandchildren, CMDR. Chad Piacenti, USN, Christopher Saur and Michael Saur; four great-grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Piacenti and Haley and Emily Saur.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Edward Piacenti.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Andrew�??s Catholic Church in Clemson, SC with Father Gregory West officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Brooklyn, NY.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Vincent and Carol Piacenti.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills c/o Oconee Medical Center Foundation, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672 or to North Shore Animal League, 25 Davis Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050.
