Marilyn Widener Kilgore, 80, of Piedmont, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Bremen, GA, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Wesley and Cora Latham Widener. Marilyn graduated from West Georgia College and she went on to pursue her love of teaching. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her best feline friend, Abner. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and the Melanie Mustin Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her two daughters, Melissa Kilgore Nelson and husband, Tommy, of Clemson, and Julie Kilgore Scott and husband, Len, of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Adam Nelson and wife Sarah, Blake Nelson and wife Samantha, Elizabeth Nelson Vaughan and husband Andrew, Meghan Scott Knight and husband Blair, Sarah Scott Warner and husband, Adam, John Patrick Scott and Brittany Kilgore; two great grandsons, Kaden Nelson and Jaxon Nelson; and one sister, Cheryle Turner and husband Dan.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Kilgore; a son, William D. Kilgore, Jr., his wife, Deborah H. Kilgore and their son, William D. Kilgore, III.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with the Rev. Dave Storay, Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
