Marion Lee Carey, 85, of 104 South Severn Circle, passed away Friday August 12, 2011 at Easley Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Carey was born in the Sandy Cross Community of Franklin County, Georgia, a son of the late Joseph Lee and Bertha Chastain Carey. He graduated from Boys High in Anderson, SC, He attended Clemson University and graduated from the University of Georgia and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was a member of the Orangeburg Country Club, the Elks Club, the Sons of the Confederacy. He was the CEO and President of the Homeowners Association at the Table Rock Resort and served on the Board of Directors at Ocean Dune Villas at Hilton Head Island, SC. He was a certified Antique Car Judge and member of several different car clubs and at the time of his death was restoring a 1950 Ford. He was an avid golfer and bridge player and a W.W. II veteran of the Army Air Corps. Mr. Carey was a charter member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Orangeburg, SC and an active member of Easley First United Methodist Church, of the Mt. Olivet Sunday School Class where he was also the class song leader, a member of the choir, Chairman of the Trustees and several boards at the church. He retired as Sales Manager from Lennox International Inc. where he was the only salesperson to receive the "Lennox Award" 7 times for excellence in sales.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Lancaster Carey, of the home; two daughters, Cathy Carey, of Atlanta, GA and Marlee Carey, of Easley, SC; three sisters, Sue Carr and Ada Jo Sisk, both of Franklin Springs, GA and Berthene Lankford, of Athens, GA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Brigham and a granddog, Tara, a certified therapy dog.

The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Easley First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jim Correll officiating. A private committal service with military honors will be held, prior to the visitation, at Robinson Memorial Gardens - Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum with the Reverend Raymond Carr officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM Monday, prior to the service, at the church fellowship hall.

Members of the Mt. Olivet Sunday School Class are invited to serve as Escort of Honor at the memorial service.
