Marion “Rat” Charles Garrett, 78, of Piedmont, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
Rat, as he was affectionately known, was born in Easley, South Carolina the son of the late Tom Garrett and the late Minnie Dunn Garrett. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later retired from JP Stevens Parker Plant after 30 years of dedicated employment. Rat enjoyed restoring vintage cars in his spare time and going to car shows. He also enjoyed camping with his friends. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Brown Garrett; a daughter, Dawn Garrett; two sons, John Garrett (Marti) and Michael Freeman (Amy); a stepson, Rick Page; grandchildren, Shane Garrett, Sydney Page, Rebecca Freeman, Julie Freeman, Travis Page, and Michael Page. In addition to his parents, Rat was predeceased by a stepson, Jason Page.
The family will receive friends between 1:30 and 2:45 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home – 1425 Powdersville RD, Easly, SC 29642. A memorial service will follow the visitation to celebrate Rat’s life. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home-PR. He will be laid to rest at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery following the service.
Rat will be remembered for his larger-than-life presence and his witty sense of humor. His memories will be cherished for years to come by everyone who knew and loved him.
