Marjorie Gould Buck

August 8, 1928 — November 28, 2010

Marjorie G. Buck
- Greenville, SC

Marjorie Gould Buck went to Heaven on Sunday, November 28, 2010.

Born August 8, 1928 in Providence, Rhode Island, Mrs. Buck was the daughter of the late James Carleton and Helen Hurd Gould. She lived in Greenville from the time she was fourteen years old so she was a Southerner at heart. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Furman University where she later received her Masters in Education. For over thirty-five years of teaching both at Christ Church Episcopal School and Sara Collins Elementary, she touched many children's lives.

A longtime member of Christ Church Episcopal, Mrs. Buck was a member of the Altar Guild for forty years, a member of the St. Monica/St. Theresa Chapter, Prime Timers and Prayer Chain. She was an active member and a Past President of the Crescent Music Club, former member of and Past President of the University Park Garden Club, former member of AAUW (American Association of University Women), and a tutor-Greenville Literacy Association. She was also a member of The Debutante Club of Greenville. A loyal Atlanta Braves fan, she loved all sports. Mrs. Buck traveled the world, and she was an avid reader. Her favorite pastimes were attending musical events and especially the Greenville Symphony concerts. Her kind heart will be missed by all, but especially by her best friend, her daughter. God takes us when he needs us. He must have needed her to teach someone in Heaven. All will miss her forever.

She was the most wonderful mother in the world. She is the mother of one daughter, Helen Buck Hagood, and her husband, Albert Starke Hagood, Jr. and one son, Carl Edward Buck III and his wife, Camille Smith Buck, all of Greenville; and three incredible grandchildren, Allison Buck Ellis, Anne Lee Simms Buck, and Edward Buck Hagood. Mrs. Buck was predeceased by a brother, Carleton F. Gould, of Charleston.
