Dr. Mark R. Winchell

Dr. Mark Royden Winchell, 59, of 112 Robin Street, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at An-Med Health in Anderson.
Born in Hamilton, OH, he was a son of the late John Coffman and Gertrude May Settle Winchell. He was an English Professor at Clemson University and was a prolific literary critic and scholar. He was a member of Christ the Savior Antiochian Orthodox Church and a member of The League of the South.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Haisty Winchell; two sons, Jonathan Haisty Winchell and Matthew Royden Winchell, both of the home; a brother, Tim Winchell and wife Missy of Cincinnati, OH; a nephew, Christopher Winchell of El Paso, TX; and a niece, Robin Winchell Roberts and husband Steve of Washington, DC.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at Christ the Savior Antiochian Orthodox Church in Anderson with Father David J. Randolph officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Clemson.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Monday at Clemson United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Paul Hutchison, Rev. Warren Ashmore, and Father David J. Randolph officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central.
