Martha Shuler Board, 76, wife of the late Joseph William Board, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson.
Martha was born in Holly Hill, SC on December 29, 1940 to the late William O'Bryan and Elise Hamlin Shuler. Mrs. Board was a graduate of Holly Hill High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she served as the church organist for over twenty-five years.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph O'Bryan Board (Laurie) of Huntsville, AL, and Bruce Evans Board of Pickens; a daughter, Susan Amy Board Stemper (Jim) of Clemmons, NC; a brother, William F. Shuler (Elsie) of Wake Forest, NC; a sister, Ann Shuler McCoy (William) of Anderson; five grandchildren, Stephanie Elizabeth Board, Kourtney Susan Board, Jack Larson Stemper, Marion Elizabeth Board, and Shuler Rose Stemper; and one great-grandchild, Aaron Thomas Board.
Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Grace United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
The family is at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Music Program of Grace United Methodist Church, 309 E. Cedar Rock Street, Pickens, SC 29671 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Hospice of the Upstate and Manna Transitional Care for the love and care they have provided for Mrs. Board.
