Martha Loretta Duncan, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on November 28, 2023, at the age of 77. She was born on December 23, 1945, in Greenville, South Carolina to Noah and Lois Gilliland.
Martha led a fulfilling life dedicated to serving others. She spent many years working as a Medical Secretary at Baptist Easley Hospital, where she touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Her dedication and compassion shone through in all aspects of her work, making her an invaluable member of the hospital staff.
Beyond her professional achievements, Martha's true joy came from her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially with her granddaughter Willow Morgan Duncan. The love between Martha and Willow was evident to all who knew them, as their bond was unbreakable.
Martha's warm and welcoming nature made her beloved by everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her. She was a kind-hearted woman who radiated positivity wherever she went. Her family and friends will always remember her as someone who loved fiercely and selflessly.
Martha's Christian faith was central to her life and she often encouraged others with God's love. It was her desire that Jesus be made real to others through her words and deeds. Martha was never in doubt about her eternity with her Lord and Savior.
Outside of work and family life, Martha found solace in various hobbies and interests. Gardening provided her with a sense of peace and fulfillment as she nurtured vibrant flowers and plants. Crocheting allowed her to express her creativity while creating beautiful items that brought joy to those around her. Additionally, Martha had a spirit of adventure and enjoyed embarking on road trips to the mountains, reveling in the beauty of nature that surrounded her.
Martha Loretta Duncan is survived by her sons Jerry Lee Duncan Jr (Carmen) of Athens, Georgia, and Bradley Christopher Duncan (Leigh Ann) of Easley, South Carolina, as well as her cherished granddaughter Willow Morgan Duncan. Along with her parents Noah and Lois Gilliland, she is predeceased by her beloved husband Jerry Lee Duncan Sr and her sister Betty Gilliland.
To honor Martha's life and legacy, visitation services will be held at Robinson Funeral Home on Powdersville Road in Easley on December 4, 2023. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, allowing friends and loved ones to pay their final respects and share memories of Martha.
Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Robinson Memorial Gardens. This solemn ceremony will be a chance for family and friends to gather in remembrance as Martha is laid to rest. The graveside service will begin at 11:00 AM. Pastor Eddie Allen of Tremont Church of God will be officiating.
The burial will follow the graveside service at Robinson Memorial Gardens, providing an opportunity for Martha's family to find solace and closure as they bid their final farewell.
Martha Loretta Duncan will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy of kindness, love, and dedication to her family and community will continue to inspire all those who were blessed to have known her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten as her spirit lives on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Martha's memory to a charity of your choice. These gestures of kindness will serve as a lasting tribute to a remarkable woman who made a difference in the lives of others.
