Martha Hinton Dunn, 87, of Pickens, wife of Sam C. Dunn passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at her home.

Born in Pickens County, Mrs. Dunn was a daughter of the late Olar Thompson Hinton, Sr. and Lois Newton Hinton. She was a third grade teacher in Pickens and later co-owner and bookkeeper for S.C. Dunn Lumber Company. Mrs. Dunn was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano. She was a graduate of Pickens High School and a 1943 graduate of Furman University.

Surviving in addition to her husband of sixty-five years are, two sons, Chip Dunn and his wife Sheila and Joe Dunn and his wife Nicki; five grandchildren, Jennifer Dunn, Ashley Clardy, Lawson Dunn, Logan Tweito and Nolan Dunn; five great-granchildren; a sister-in-law, Pinkie N. Hinton, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dunn was preceded in death by a sister, Corrine Hinton Isley; four brothers, Calhoun, Trescott, Joel and Olar "Red" Hinton Jr.

Graveside services will be at 12:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2014 at Sunrise Cemetery in Pickens, with Rev. Dr. Fred Stone officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund Pickens First Baptist Church, 406 East Main Street, Pickens, SC 29671.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Hospice Care of South Carolina and to Sitters Registry, Ltd. for the care they gave to Mrs. Dunn.

Family members are at their respective homes.
