Martha Jane Mitchell Griffin, 79, of Atlanta, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Foothills Presbyterian Home in Easley.
Born in Bethune, SC, she was a daughter of the late Charles Bates Mitchell and Mary Louise McLaurin Mitchell.
Mrs. Griffin was a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and was retired from Towers Watson in Atlanta, GA. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. She loved her family, gardening, reading and dogs.
Surviving are her children, Charles Mitchell Griffin of Atlanta and Eleanor Griffin Stoker (Jim) of Easley; grandchildren, Grace McLaurin Stoker and Jay Stoker; a sister, Mary Mitchell Saunders (Rick) of Atlanta; nephews, Fred Saunders of California and Mitch Saunders of Atlanta; and her beloved dog, Stella.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Foothills Presbyterian Community, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley, SC 29642.
A gathering of friends will be held following the service at the home of the daughter, Eleanor Stoker, 204 Carnoustie Drive, Easley, SC 29642.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oconee Animal Shelter, 1925 Sandifer Blvd, Seneca, SC 29678, where she adopted her beloved Stella, or
Lutheran Hospice, 429 N. Main Street, Suite 3, Greenville, SC 29601, who provided such compassionate care for Mrs. Griffin.
