Martha Oeland Hart, 89, known lovingly as “Jimsie,” of Greenville, South Carolina, wife of the late Carroll Brown Hart, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 in Greenville, South Carolina.
Born in Spartanburg, Jimsie was a daughter of the late James Moore and Martha Alexander Oeland. She graduated from St. John’s High School in Darlington, South Carolina Class of 1954 and from Agnes Scott College in 1958.
Martha built a career in real estate as Broker-in-Charge of Blake-Holliday Hart Real Estate and was a member of the Capital Bank & Trust Board of Directors. She was a faithful member of Christ Church Episcopal. She was also active in the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America (South Carolina).
At the age of 56, Jimsie was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. As a cancer survivor, she worked with people who had cancer and volunteered with the Greenville Memorial Hospital Cancer Center. She spearheaded the founding of the Cancer Support Group at Christ Church Episcopal.
Surviving are her son, Carroll Hart, Jr. (Angela) of Greenville; her daughter, Martha Hart Kent of Greenville; a sister, Nora Rushton (Randy) of Mooresville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Ann Kent and Tom Kent, Carroll Hart (Holly), Eliza Painter (Trevor), and Lillian Hart; and two great-grandchildren, Georgia Hart and Louise Painter.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Alexander of Bishopville, South Carolina, and Helen Coker of Florence, South Carolina.
A private family memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 in Markley Chapel at Christ Church Episcopal.
