Martha Porter Holcombe

Mrs. Martha Frances Porter Holcombe, 78, wife of Dover Ray Holcombe, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, September 7, 2015.
Born in Six Mile, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Carrie Kirkendall Porter, Mrs. Holcombe retired from Mayfair Mills- Pickens Division and was a member of Open Praise Fellowship Holiness Church. Martha was an avid camper, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of fifty-seven years, are a son, Douglas Holcombe (Donna) of Pickens; a daughter, Patricia Gilstrap of Easley; a brother, Harold Porter of Easley; four grandchildren, Yvonne Smith (Jason), Jason Gilstrap (Rachelle), Marie Jones, and Amanda Marler (Joey); and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holcombe was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Holcombe; two brothers, Clyde and Edward Porter; and three sisters, Laura Mae Sexton, Betty Stegall, and Mary McCollum.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2015 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with Rev. Roland Bearden and Rev. Doug Saylors officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
