Mrs. Martha Steinkamp Sherman, 101,of 500 Downs Loop, Apt. D-107 and loving wife of 82 years to Mendel Sherman died Wednesday, September 12, 2012.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Emily Lienhart Steinkamp. Martha was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati earning degrees in both Applied Arts and Education and upon graduation taught in both schools. She was a very creative artist displaying her skills in many art media. She was well known in the art community and presided over many art associations in the Cincinnati community and later at Indiana University. Many of her works have been displayed in the Museum of Art at both University of Cincinnati and Indiana University. Along with being an artist, Martha had many interest including gardening, a love of animals and sports. She was very active at Clemson Downs where she designed their logo for their letterhead and other communication. Many of the residents of the Downs fondly remember the Silver and Gold Dinner she organized for the Downs residents to commemorate wedding anniversaries.

She is survived by her husband of the home and a number of nieces and nephews.
