Martin L. Hammond, a dedicated drywall hanger, breathed his last breath on March 11, 2024, at the Upstate Community Hospice House. Born on March 31, 1943, in Townville, South Carolina, Martin's journey came to an end as he peacefully departed surrounded by his loved ones.
Martin was a man of simple pleasures and a strong work ethic. Throughout his career hanging drywall, he showcased unwavering commitment and skill. Beyond his professional endeavors, Martin found joy in the thrill of riding his motorcycle with the wind in his hair and the rhythm of dancing to music filling his heart.
In addition to his craft and hobbies, Martin cherished moments spent with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy that will be forever remembered by those who knew him. Preceding him in death were his parents, Louie and Edna Martin Hammond, alongside two sons, Scott and Keith Hammond; a brother named Richard Hammond; and a sister named Jeanette Howard.
While we mourn the loss of Martin from our lives, we find solace in the memories he created. Among those holding these memories dear are surviving family members including his lifelong partner, Lillie McDonald of Central; son Mark Hammond of Pickens; daughter Pamela Wright and her husband Johnny of Concord Georgia; as well as daughter Renee Allen and her husband Richard of Charleston.
A Memorial Service to honor and remember Martin L. Hammond will take place on March 14, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM at Duckett - Robinson Funeral Home in Central, South Carolina.
Those who wish to remember Martin in a special way make memorial donations to Helping Hands of Clemson, P. O. Box 561, Clemson, SC 29633.
May Martin's spirit live on through the stories shared and the love that surrounds those who knew him best. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him family or friend.
