Martin Clarence "Pop" Shirley, 78, husband of Grace Manley Shirley, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at his residence. Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Henry and Annie Lee Wilson Shirley. He worked 50 years in textiles and attended Central Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Thomas "Lefty" Shirley and his wife Joy and Jackie D. Shirley and his wife Sandra both of Central; brother, Douglas Shirley, Liberty; two grandsons, Kendall W. Q. Shirley and Jackie T. Shirley of Central. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Eugene Shirley and a sister, Vivian Winkler.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 4pm in the chapel at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home followed by entombment at Memory Gardens Chapel Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Sunday, prior to the service from 3-4pm at the funeral home.
