Rev. Marvin Colie Ferguson, 98, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 in Athens, GA.

He was a native of Pickens County, SC and a son of the late John Riley and Elvinia Josie Durham Ferguson. Rev. Ferguson began his lifelong ministry in 1942. He attended Toccoa Falls College, and was a graduate of Furman University and Southern Baptist Seminary. Rev. Ferguson served various in South Carolina, Kentucky and Georgia. He was honored as Pastor Emeritus of Cross Roads Baptist Church, Hartwell, GA, where he was a member.

Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca F. Martin (Max); five grandchildren, Sharon M. Ankerich (Scott), Marcia M. Muckunfuss (Chris), Jason M. Martin (Amy), Lance B. Ferguson (Sherri), and Lacey A. Everett (Casey); twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, a daughter-in-law, Lynda Long (Bob) and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rev. Ferguson was predeceased by his wife of sixty-seven years, Sarah Frances Brooks Ferguson, a son, Marvin Brooks Ferguson, a grandson, John Kendall Martin, four brothers, Wilborn, Max, Claude and John Ferguson and by four sisters, Fronnie Christopher, Floy Finley, Kate Black and Ruby Davis.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, with Rev. David Brooks and Rev. Jason M. Martin, grandson, officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Easley.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 10:45 AM Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3636 Lavonia Highway, Hartwell. GA 30643.
