Mary Brackin
Greenville, SC
Mary Helon Lark Brackin left this world for her heavenly home on July, 30, 2024 after a brief illness.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother in addition to being a “meme” to everyone. A member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church, Mary attended services as her health allowed. As a former member of Tanglewood Baptist Church, Mary sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, helped in the AWANA program, and was the church hostess for events such as homecoming.
She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Robert (Bob) Brackin; her parents, Julius and Florence Cole Lark; her brothers, Norwood, Kenneth, Marlo, Jerome, and David Lark; her sisters, Thelma Timmons, Naomi Abernathy, and Carolyn Hudson.
Surviving Mary are her two daughters, Annette Culbertson (Don) of Easley, and Elaine Brackin of Greenville; one granddaughter, Emily Culbertson of Easley; one sister, Jean Johnson of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee; and many “children” that she loved and nurtured during her time as the owner/operator of Brackin’s Day Care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Avenue Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Washington Avenue Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM.
Burial will take place following the service at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
