Mary Jane Clayton, 83, of 108 Bobolink Drive, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at her home.
She was born and raised in Portland Maine, the daughter of James H. Walsh and Jennie MacArthur. She graduated from Westbrook Junior College and subsequently served as corpsman in the US Navy in WW II. Afterwards she worked for various government agencies in Portland Maine, Heidelberg Germany and Washington DC. After her marriage in 1955 she devoted herself to raising her family for 30 years in Windsor Conn and was an enthusiastic volunteer at Sage Park Middle School in Windsor Conn. and the Seneca, SC school system. She was a loving and caring person in raising her family. She was a member of St Paul, the Apostle Catholic church in Seneca SC
Surviving are her husband William Harold (Bill) Clayton of the home, others are brother James Walsh of Portland, Maine; three children, Mary Ann Hill of Clemson SC, William J. Clayton of Windsor Conn, and Sally Brennan of Charleston SC; and six grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be 10 AM Friday at Sharon United Methodist Church, Sharon Church Road, Central SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Foothills Foundation 390 Keowee Road Seneca S.C. 29672.
The family wishes to thank her many caregivers through her couragous battle with Parkinson Disease.
