Mary Elizabeth Black Robinson, 96, wife of the late William Alexander Robinson, Jr., of Easley, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late John "Jack" McKinley Black and the late Helen Marr Barnhardt Black.
She studied at Furman University and the University of Georgia earning the Bachelor of Arts from UGA in 1950, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
Mrs. Robinson was a dedicated member of Easley Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, elder, youth group advisor, and VBS coordinator. She promoted the growth of Vacation Bible School programs in other local churches. She was a member of several civic and social organizations, including the Carillon Club, Greenville Country Club, the Better Homes Club of Easley, the Nosegay Garden Club, and the Elsie Haynsworth Club.
She was loving, steadfast, and determined. Mary always looked out for the people she cherished, especially her family. She also had a deep love for Pawleys Island, enjoyed mahjong and bridge with friends, was an avid tennis player, and never tired of watching pelicans by the shore.
Mrs. Robinson is survived by children, James McKinley Robinson (Melissa) of Easley, Alan Monroe Robinson (Jeanne) of Greenville, and Elizabeth Robinson Weaver (David) of Easley; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Gibson Robinson of Belmont, NC; grandchildren, Katherine, Patricia, Ben (Charlotte), MaryAnn, Neal (Ariel), Walt (Michelle), Mary and James; and great-grandchildren, Margaret, John "Jack", Belton, and John, Jr.
In addition to her loving husband of 66 years, she is preceded in death by sons, Ben Barnhardt Robinson, William Alexander Robinson III, and sisters, Virginia Black Rubin and Julia Black Strader.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Easley Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends following the service at South & West Event Venue, 109 S. First St., Easley, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Easley Presbyterian Church Endowment, 200 S. First St., Easley, SC 29640; or to a charity of one's choice.
