Mary Elizabeth Floyd, 78, of Easley, wife of the late Tony Lee Floyd, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023, at her home.
Born in Wilkes County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Claude T. Looney, Sr., and Lottie Callaway Looney. Mary graduated from Middle Georgia College with an associate degree in nursing. She spent many years of her life working as a Nursing Supervisor at Carl Vinson Medical Center. Through her work in healthcare, Mary influenced and touched so many lives that she will be remembered for generations to come. Mary had a passion for painting and watching birds. One of the most important things to Mary was family. She cherished every moment spent with them and made sure they knew how much she loved them. Her grandchildren were one of the great joys of her life; she spent countless hours playing with them and watching them grow up. Her great-grandchildren continued to bring joy and happiness into her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Myers (Sanford); one sister, Louise Blakey; two grandchildren, Mary Katherine Laches (Paul) and Caroline Woodring (Austin); and four great-grandchildren Jayden, MacKenzie, Claire, and Oliver.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Thomas Looney, Jr., and Doyle Looney; and two sisters, Martha Ward, and Edna Crowley.
