Mary Hamlin Hester, 88, wife of Carroll Douglas Hester, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 16, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Liberty, a daughter of the late Harlow Judson Hamlin and the late Mary Alice Tinsley Hamlin, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Hester was a co-owner and founder of a family business for many years and she was a member of Pelham Road Baptist Church in Greenville.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of sixty-eight years, are daughters, Ann Walker of Greenville, Genia Hester of Greenville, and Donna Gaino (James) of Powdersville; sisters, Janet Wilson (Herb) of Easley, Shirley Stephens (Douglas) of Liberty, and Antha James of Easley; sisters-in-law, Dr. Carolyn Hamlin of Easley and Brenda Hamlin of Liberty; brother-in-law, Wallace Hughes of Greer; grandchildren, Chad Holcombe (Samantha) of Easley, Ashley Holcombe (Justin) of Easley, and Brittany Walker of Greenville; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Talmadge Hamlin and Wayne Hamlin; and sisters, Lois Hayes, Dot Sargent McCall, Nell Gibson, and Donnie Vea Hughes.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Entombment will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum. Scroll to the video player below to view the service.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
