Mary Etta Smith Hunter, 89, of 464 Simms School Road and widow of Charles David Hunter, died Friday, August 23, 2013 at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Martin Louis and Ada Nancy Josephine Nix Smith. Mary Etta was a homemaker and a member of Cannon Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, David (Sue) Hunter, Thomas (Janet) Hunter, Gerald (Phronsia) Hunter, Tony (Rosemary) Hunter all of Central; daughter, Joyce (Roger) Stephens of Six Mile; grandchildren, Daniela (Tim) Lynn, Julie (John) Nosko, Jeff (Leslie) Hunter, Alina (Joey) Herring, Alan (Jennifer) Stephens, Alexis (Wesley)Bridges, Daniel (Laura)Hunter, Amee (Jay)Wright; great grandchildren, Kristen Bridges, Logan Bridges, Zachary Lynn, Daniel Lynn, Mary Katherine Herring, Kalynn Herring, Kinsleigh Herring, James Stephens and Andrew Stephens; 2 step-grandchildren, Justin and Courtney Barksdale; and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Dylan and Breanna Barksdale.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Mack Smith, Frank Smith and Joe Smith; sisters, Betty Lee Wilson, Bessie Mae Swords, Willie Smith, Bernice Whitaker, Leila Childs and Marie Gossett.

Funeral services will be 3 PM, Monday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central with burial to follow in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:50 PM, Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Hunter, Daniel Hunter, Tim Lynn, Alan Stephens, Joey Herring, Wesley Bridges, Jay Wright and Zachary Lynn. The T.E.L. Women's Sunday School Class are asked to be Honorary Escorts.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Home With A Heart, 220 James Mattison Road, Liberty, SC 29657.
