Mary Katherine "Kathy" James

Mary Katherine James, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born on September 10, 1951, in Anderson, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late J.D. "Mutt" Hooper and Jeanette Armstrong Hooper.

Kathy was a proud alumna of Clemson University where she earned her master's degree. She pursued her passion for learning and teaching, and became a special education teacher at Wren Middle School. Here she influenced the lives of countless students over a career that spanned more than 40 years.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Ron Dean James; her sister, Margaret Denise Hooper James, of Augusta, GA; and her nephew, Charles "Trey" F. James III.

A memorial service to honor Kathy's life will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 2:00PM at Duckett - Robinson Funeral Home located at 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC.
