Mary June Ponder Phillips

Mary June Ponder Phillips devoted wife of 73 years to Homer Charles Phillips went to be with her Lord on March 20, 2026. June was born in Mars Hill, North Carolina to the late Otus Ponder and Mafery Honeycutt Ponder on November 12, 1934.

She graduated from Mars Hill High School, Pack Square Beauty School and later Greenville Technical College. She was employed by Greenville Hospital System, A & P Foods as a Secretary, Palmetto Baptist Hospital as an Assistant Personnel Director. June was a faithful member of Glenwood Baptist Church, and the Gleaners Golden Circle Sunday School Class.

Charles and June were very active in the South Carolina Disaster Relief, traveling to numerous states to help those in need.

She leaves two children; Steve (Jody), Kevin (Donna), three grandchildren; Christa Phillips Washington (Maurice), Jason Hunsucker (Jennifer), and Margo Hudgins (Jon), four great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and one great-great grandson, her brother in law; Larry McLaughlin, along with several loving nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her daughter; Sharon Gryn, and a sister Lucile Ponder Sprinkle.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Glenwood Baptist Church with Robert Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM Wednesday at the church, prior to the service.
