Mary Manley Newton, 80, of 1710 Keowee Lakeshore Drive and widow of Morris Alton Newton, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late Winfield and Myrtle Bottoms Manley, she was a housewife, a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, the Happy Hearts Club and the Seneca Baptist Church Golden Age Group.

Surviving are two sons, Randall M. Newton and wife, Peggy, of Clemson, Steven A. Newton and wife, Teresa, of Seneca; one daughter, Judy N. Owen and husband, Jerry, of Anderson and Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two brothers, Harry Manley of Walhalla, Roger Manley of Westminster; two sisters, Janet Wilson of Seneca, Phyllis Taylor of Westminster; 8 grandchildren, Jill Owen Richard, Jayeson Owen, Travis Newton, Brent Newton, Ryan Newton, Kimberly Renaud, Nicholas Newton and Addie Bowen; and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a step-mother, Margaret Hunnicutt Manley; and two brothers, Johnny Manley and Charles Manley.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday at Trinity Wesleyan Church with a private burial to follow in Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM in Trinity Wesleyan Church's Family Life Center.

The family is at her home.
