Mary Virginia Harkins Roper, 95, of 108 Deep Wood Lane and wife of the late O.N. "Preach" Roper, Sr, went to be with the Lord Saturday December 17, 2011.
Mrs. Roper was born in Brevard, N.C., a daughter of the late Johnny and Flora Belle Tinsley Harkins. She was a former employee of Swirl Mfg. Company and most recently was a homemaker. She was the oldest member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church in Easley.
Surviving are her son, O.N. Roper, Jr and his wife, Janice, of Newberry; two daughters, Imogene Anderson and her husband, Donald, of Pickens and Gladys Spencer and her husband, Odis, of Greenville; a brother, Billy Harkins, of Greenville; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son David Michael Roper.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, with the Reverend Dr. Roger Couch and the Reverend Justin Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Oates Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
The family is at their respective homes.
