Mrs. Mary Gossett Smith, 90, wife of the late Truman Ezekiel Smith, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Lloyd Kenneth Gossett and the late Margaret Finley Gossett, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Mailman Ministries. Mary enjoyed cooking (she was known for her chicken and rice and macaroni pie), drinking her coffee and loved spending time with her family, but her greatest love was for her church and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew her. 

Surviving are her two daughters, Betty S. Latham (Fred) of Greenwood, and Gilda S. Posey of Greenville; five grandchildren, Rev. Paul Posey (Ainsley), Shannon Posey (Tim Long), Josh Posey, Rev. David Latham (Rebecca), and Pamela Petoskey (Sam); eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her cat and companion, Nestlé.In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her son, Jimmy Benton Smith; her brother, Kenneth Lloyd Gossett; and her sister, Sara Starkey Brown.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2022 at Mailman Ministries, 100 Mt. Calvary Church Road, Easley, SC 29642. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Friday at the church, prior to the service.
