Mary Stansell

Mary Helen Nix Stansell, age 86, of Easley, SC, went home to be with her Lord on April 27, 2023, in Watertown, SD.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD at 4: 00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2023.  Services will be conducted by Pastor Lamar Whittemore, and special remembrance by Rev. Bradley Seaton.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Sunday from 3-4 p.m. at the chapel.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Robinson Funeral Home Downtown Chapel with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens in Pickens, SC. Active pallbearers will be Kenny McClaren, Steve McClaren, Tyler McClaren, DJ Petit, David Cantrell, and Shannon Moody. 

Mary was born November 23, 1936, in Six Mile, SC to Charles and Mary Lois (Nimmons) Nix.  She was married to Lloyd Stansell and together they had two children. Mary retired in 2007 from West Point Stevens in Clemson, SC after 41 years in Supervision.

She was a faithful member of Roanoke Baptist Church in Liberty, SC for many decades until she moved to live with her daughter in Watertown, SD where she was a faithful member of Harvest Baptist Church, was loved by all and known as the church “MaMa.”  She was loved and adored by everyone that knew her. 

Mary is survived by her daughters:  Tracy Petit, Easley, SC and Chastity (Rev. Lamar) Whittemore, Watertown, SD;  two sisters and one brother, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grand grandchild. 

Mary was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd, her parents, and several brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Harvest Baptist Church – PO Box 83, Watertown, SD, 57201.
