Mary Ann Taylor

Mary Ann Findley Taylor, age 80, of Seneca, South Carolina, passed away on July 23, 2026.

Mary Ann was born on January 7, 1946, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Maurice Harold Findley and Mabel Prater Findley. She grew up in Knoxville, attended Knoxville Catholic High School, and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Education.

Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and dear friend to many. She was married to the love of her life and lifelong travel companion, Robert “Bob” Taylor, for 58 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, friendship, travel, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Mary Ann and Bob spent 20 years in Watkinsville, Georgia, where Bob was associated with the University of Georgia and where they raised their three children. In 2003, they made their final move to Clemson, South Carolina where Bob was Department Chair of Mathematical Science before retirement. They built their cherished home on beautiful Lake Keowee and lived there until her death. Mary Ann was a faithful and active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson, South Carolina.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann enjoyed many passions and was an especially gifted as a master gardener and water-colored painter. Her gardens were a reflection of her creativity, patience, and love of beauty. She found great joy in tending her flowers and creating beautiful spaces for others to enjoy. Mary Ann’s favorite activities included traveling and spending time with her family and her dearest friends. She treasured gatherings, conversations, laughter, and the stories that became treasured family memories.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Maurice and Mabel Findley, and her younger brother, Steve Findley.

Mary Ann leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert “Bob” Taylor of Seneca, South Carolina; her children, Kevin Taylor of Watkinsville, Georgia; Keri Taylor (Tim Adams) of Dacula, Georgia; and Amy Taylor Weaver (Jon) of Watkinsville, Georgia; and her cherished grandchildren, Caleb Doran, Benson Weaver and Abigail Adams. She is also survived by her siblings and extended family: Patrick Findley (Shannon), Barbara Powers (Bill), Marty Margretts (Brian), sister-in-law Jeana Findley, sister-in-law Lucille Taylor Shreve, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life gathering service will be held on September 26, 2026, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson, at 1:00 pm. Following the celebration of life, a 3:00 pm funeral service and interment of her ashes will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pendleton, South Carolina.

Mary Ann’s life was a beautiful gift to all who knew her. Her love will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She will be deeply missed, but her laughter, stories, gardens, paintings, and the love she shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves a garden of memories that will bloom forever in our hearts.
