Mary Jane Monroe Whitmire, 92, of Belton, passed away March 14, 2026, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. She was the loving wife of the late R.V. Whitmire.
Born in Pickens, South Carolina on November 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John Monroe and Essie Allen Monroe. Mary was raised at Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia, an experience she often credited with instilling in her Faith and her deep love of God and the strong values that guided her throughout her life. Those values shaped the compassionate, faithful, and generous woman that so many knew and loved.
Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was known for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and her willingness to care for others. Throughout her life, she served not only her family but also many friends and community members as a caretaker, mentor, and source of encouragement. Her home and heart were always open to those in need.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.V. Whitmire, and a beloved daughter, Susan Whitmire Crowe.
She is survived by her children, Linda Bridgers (Don), Ronnie Whitmire (Sandy), Steve Whitmire, and Tim Whitmire (Elisa); 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.
Mary’s legacy of faith, love, and compassion will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
A service will be held on March 28th, 2026 at Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel in Easley at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend this casual memorial.
