Mary Lucille Willimon Smith, 92, of Powdersville, South Carolina, passed away on December 4, 2023, in Greenville, South Carolina. She was born on January 15, 1931, in Six Mile, South Carolina. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Mary was full of life and was always smiling. She had love for life that was infectious to everyone around her. She was generous and was always there for anyone during a time of need. One of her greatest joys was dancing, and she could often be found twirling around the dance floor with a smile on her face. Her Joyful smiles and legacy of love inspired everyone around her to embrace life's rhythm. Mary was also a talented cook and loved preparing delicious meals for her family. Her southern cooking skills were cherished, and her family always looked forward to gathering around the table to enjoy her homemade dishes.
Family meant the world to Mary, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special bond with each of them and took great joy in watching them grow and thrive. Mary's love for her family was unwavering, and she created many beautiful memories with them throughout the years.
Mary Lucille is survived by her loving daughter, Terisa Wilson Cooper (Steve); granddaughter, Michelle Cooper Wood (Todd); grandson, Stephen Bryan Cooper II (Brooke); granddaughter, Crystal Cooper McCall (Jeremy); and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann Holcombe. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Bertie Willimon; sisters, Helen, Sylvia Jean and Vernie; brothers, Bill, Ernest, Junior, and Marvin.
Mary graduated Six Mile High School and later pursued her education at Draughons Business College. After completing her education, she embarked on a fulfilling career with Leatherwood, Walker, Todd and Mann. Mary attended Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley, South Carolina.
Mary Lucille will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her vibrant spirit, warm smile, and love for her family will forever be cherished. The family finds comfort in knowing that her soul has found perfect and eternal peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Hospice of the Upstate at Hospice of the Upstate | South Carolina Hospice & Palliative Care.
A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held for the immediate family at a later date.
